Humble Beginings
Established in 1987, T.J. Cottis Transport has grown from a trusted local haulage operator into a comprehensive site support provider based in Rayleigh, Essex.
Operating from Rawreth Industrial Estate, we now deliver a full range of services across Essex, London, and the wider South East, supporting projects of all sizes with the vehicles, machinery, materials, and expertise required to keep sites moving efficiently.
Our Story
At T.J. Cottis Transport, everything begins with strong foundations.
The business was founded in 1987 by the late Trevor Cottis, who began with a single green Volvo F86 and a determination to build something lasting. Through long hours, early mornings, and an unwavering commitment to doing the job properly, Trevor established a reputation for reliability, hard work, and integrity across Essex.

Then
Trevor built the company with the belief that reputation mattered more than shortcuts. Every job was completed properly, every relationship valued, and every customer treated with respect. It was this approach that steadily built trust across the region and allowed the business to grow.
Behind Trevor throughout those early years was his wife Sharon, whose support played an essential role in helping the company develop. While Trevor was out on the road delivering work and building relationships, Sharon managed the accounts and financial side of the business for many years, helping ensure the company remained strong and stable as it expanded.
From those beginnings, what started as one man and one truck steadily grew. Contractors returned, relationships strengthened, and the fleet expanded. Over time the business evolved beyond haulage, developing into a wider service offering including aggregates, waste transfer, ready-mix concrete, grab hire, and full site support services.
Trevor’s vision was simple: deliver more than materials. Deliver reliability. Deliver efficiency. Deliver service people could rely on.
When Trevor sadly passed away in 2013, the standards and values he built the business on did not disappear. Sharon stepped in to ensure the company continued to operate and Trevor’s legacy remained alive, guiding the business through a difficult period and providing the stability needed for the next generation to step forward.

Now
Today, the business is led by his son, Jedd Cottis, he continues to build on the foundations Trevor created. Under Jedd’s leadership the company has grown its fleet, expanded its service offering, invested in training and compliance, and strengthened partnerships across Essex, London and the South East.
He upholds the same work ethic, family values, and commitment to every job; that Trevor established.
Sharon remains actively involved in the business today as a director, continuing to support the company she helped Trevor build.
From a single Volvo F86 to a modern fleet supporting major projects across Essex, London and the Southeast, the journey reflects one constant: the values Trevor built the company on still guide it today.
